Authy in a browser, when the phone is not the answer
Twilio discontinued the Authy desktop apps for Windows, macOS and Linux in August 2024, leaving mobile as the only option. If you came here because the desktop app stopped working, this page is the closest thing to what you lost.

Where Authy is the better tool
Encrypted cloud backup with multi-device sync, which made it genuinely hard to lose access to your accounts.
A single backup password restores every token onto a new device, rather than re-enrolling each account by hand.
Tokens are held off the machine you browse on, which a browser tab cannot claim.
Worth saying plainly
Gen2FA is not a replacement for Authy. It holds nothing you have not pasted in, it lives in one browser, and anything you save here is stored in readable form. Keep an authenticator app enrolled and keep your recovery codes. This is the route in when the app is out of reach.
Where it leaves you stuck
The desktop apps were retired in August 2024. There is no supported Authy client for a laptop any more.
It requires a phone number to register, which some people will not hand over, and which has historically been the weak point in SIM-swap attacks.
It is an account-based service: if Twilio is unreachable or your registration lapses, recovery is their process, not yours.
When a browser is the right call
You relied on Authy Desktop and want codes on the same machine you are logging in from.
You are moving your tokens somewhere else and want to verify each key as you go.
You would rather not register a phone number with a third party at all.
You need one code right now and the phone is not to hand.
Moving a key across
Open Authy and note which accounts you hold. Authy does not export secrets, so each one has to be re-obtained from the service that issued it.
On each service, go to its 2FA settings and re-run the authenticator setup to reveal a fresh text key.
Paste that key here to confirm it produces a working code before you rely on it.
Finish the enrollment on the service so the new key is the one it expects, and store your recovery codes offline.
Questions
Can I export my tokens out of Authy?
Not directly. Authy does not offer a secret export, so tokens cannot be copied out the way a standard authenticator export works. Moving away means re-enrolling each account from the service that issued it and keeping the new setup keys.
Do I need a phone number to use this site?
No. There is no account, no registration and no phone number. Paste a setup key and the code appears.
Is there still an Authy desktop app?
No. Twilio retired the Windows, macOS and Linux applications in August 2024 and directed users to the mobile apps. That retirement is why most people reach this page.
